Algebra – Word problems

In mathematics education, the term word problem is often used to refer to any mathematical exercise where significant background information on the problem is presented as text rather than in mathematical notation. As word problems often involve a narrative of some sort, they are occasionally also referred to as story problems and may vary in the amount of language used.

Algebra related question are very interested to solve it and generally this type of question are also some hard and time consuming. However mathematics subject is so ,comlex and outstanding some questions as a word problems Question are thinkable.

Question. . Half a number plus 5 is 11 . What is the number .

Solution .

Let ,the number is x .Always replace “is” with an equal sign.

(1/2 ) x + 5 = 11

(1/2) x + 5 – 5 = 11 -5

(1/2) x = 6

(1/2) x = 6

2 x (1/2) x = 6 x 2. Answer
